La La Chong Seafood Restaurant @ Kayu Ara Damansara

Heyho people! :) I know I'm supposed to update a few weeks ago but anyway, as promised, here's another yummy-licious recommendation on crabs.

Don't be fooled by its name; La La Chong's highlight is not only clams, but also crabs. The Kuantan gang were still around so it was a heavy, hearty dinner indeed.

First up, the Marmite + Egg Floss Prawns. The marmite ones are much more juicer than the egg floss ones, probably because of the marmite sauce. Nonetheless, the ones in egg floss tastes just like eggs, you'll love it if you love eggs. :)

The Steamed Egg Tofu has a traditionally soft, crumbly texture. Nothing exceptional about it though.

Ha, this Spicy Pucuk Paku with Tuna is one of my favourites. Eating pucuk paku for the first time, I thought it tasted like stir-fry kangkung initially. Very Malaysian I have to say, given that it's spicy and the core ingredient is paku pakis. :D

This is Steamed Chicken, not Salted Chicken. Literally lean poultry, not much fat (depending on the type of chicken they serve). Dip it into the ginger sauce on the top-right corner for more flavour. Yum.

One of their specialties: the Tofu-Kang. It's basically chopped tofu with crab meat, sliced mushrooms and sea cucumber. The gravy's gooooooood, just thick enough. (Y)

SIONG THONG LALA! MY FAVOURITE! Even the crabs can't beat this one hahaha. You won't be disappointed upon scooping up a spoonful of empty clam shells, the clams are still attached to the shells. ♥

The first thing that comes into mind at the mere mention of La La Chong is this: the Salted Grilled Fish (Shuet San Fei Wu in Cantonese). The fish's belly is stuffed with garlic and other ingredients whereas the exterior is marinated with table salt (so salty!). The meat, well I have to say, is just fish. Looks like fish, tastes like fish.

On the other hand, this Honey Grilled Mackerel is sweet and sour. It has much more flavour than the Salted Grilled Fish, provided than you squeezed lemon zest into the protein. :D

Now, saving the best for the last; the crabs!

Above: Salted Egg Crabs; below: Sweet & Sour Crabs. Quality comes with a price, and the crabs, RM45/RM50 per kg, are soooooo succulent! The sweet and sour ones are sort of spicy though, but those in salted egg are quite moist in the inside. You can effortlessly crack the sweet and sour ones with your teeth btw.

A very satisfying meal HEEHAHA. Serving's quite fast, even during peak hours. The only downside is that it isn't really budget-friendly. However, if you really wanna do your endless craving for seafood justice, this is the place. And it's halal btw. :)
